STATION MAGNUS

The project ‘’Station Magnus’’ is an open-world exploration game where you collect minerals and destroy ships to progress to other worlds.

The project is in a playable but unfinished state. All the systems that I wanted to include in the game have been added to some capacity with some being more stable than others. The combat in the game is not fun and kind of clunky however there is not much I am able to fix about it due to time constraints and how difficult it would be fix it. I wish that the game was in a better state than what it is, however, I do believe that the game is playable if you read everything carefully such as the controls at the start of the game on the title screen as well as the prompts that are seen on the various stations.

The images above show some screenshots of gameplay. The top photo shows the ship mining some asteroids and the second photo shows the aftermath of a ship being destroyed. The screenshot to the bottom is of some of the code going on behind the scenes of station magnus as well as the large number of objects present in the game.

My final reflection on this game is not what I would have hoped it would be at the beginning of development. I have achieved most of what I wanted to do other than develop all the levels and make it easier for people to play the game. The game itself is unfinished but still playable however it is difficult and can be frustrating as shown from the user test reports. If I had more time, I would be able to complete more of the levels and iron out any bugs that are still in the game.
