My major project is a ‘Phone Holder’ the basic use of it is that you clip the box onto a caribener clip and attach the other end to your pants, this can be attached to a belt thing on your pants (the item that you slip your belth through) or any kind of decorative rings that the caribener clip can slip into.
The reason for this project is that i found that some people, including me, were having trouble with taking things out of the top most pocket of our pants, so, I wanted to make a objec that acts as a pocket that won’t be affected by fabric and is made of a rigid material so then it won’t bend as if its fabric from pants.
These three cardboard boxes with tape are the prototypes that i had made to try to get my sketches brought to life (i have lost the original sketch), As you can see from the first image, i had chosen the third box as it had the most efficient design as i intended for the box to have an opening at the top.
The next thing i did was research into different 3D Printing Filament, i chose between, PLA, ABS, PETG, Nylon, and TPU. i had decided to go with PLA as it was readily avaliable and it also had the pros easily outweighing the cons with it being a very natural filament source and it being very safe for the enviroment if it degrades.
This is my Design Journal that i had used to document information and input notes.
I have tested the Phone Holder, the Caribener clip does hold its weight very well and the phone holder allows wriggle room and is easy to slip in and has minimal struggle on getting out, so far, that is the only person i have tested this project on, i am very happy with the item but i will do more tests on the phone holder with my Dad and my Sister as both of them wear pants that can be able to use a belt, which is another thing the caribener can clip onto.
