User Experience

Creating this game helped me think outside of GameMaker, ranging from having a different room upon reloading the game after the first crash, moving objects to places after an event, dialogue in game & adding screen effects. Implementing all these into my game has made me proud of it, but of course I could always do much more.

User Experience is a meta game where you explore the unfinished games of an unknown creator. Your aim is to play through their broken & unfinished games, with a AI that speaks to you through the Output section in GameMaker.

Originally, User Experience was planned to have a lot more unfinished and buggy experiences, but due to time issues & family, I could only get 3 of them finished, even with this issue, the game can be enjoyed by most people.

The biggest challenges I’ve faced during my time developing this project was using saves to my advantage & making the game scan for saves to then teleport the player to a different room. After learning what code I must type in for it to work, progress was smooth.

If I were to work on my game again, I would like to change the start of the game, instead of being instantly thrown into a “crash”. Like ease the player to play a more playable game, but slowly evolving into a more buggy experience.

The player does not require a beefy computer, the game itself is simple to run & understand. The only controls are the arrow keys.
